Gaz Jenkins
Gaz Jenkins plays Billy Joel in Uptown Girl – The Billy Joel Collection.
Gaz was born and bred in a small village in Port Talbot, and trained in Performing Arts at Gorseinon College before moving to Blackpool to study Musical Theatre. Following his graduation, he toured the UK with the Steel Wasp Theatre Company before joining the inaugural show team cast of the Island Escape for a 9-month tour of the Mediterranean.
Upon his return to the UK, Gaz quickly established himself as one of the most sought-after vocalists in the country, performing for clients such as Liverpool Football Club, The James Milner Foundation, and The Charlie Gard Foundation, as well as at venues including EventCity (Manchester), The Blackpool Tower Ballroom, The Roundhouse (Camden) and The Union Theatre (London).
Having appeared in lead roles in Les Miserables, Return To The Forbidden Planet, Chicago and Pink Floyd’s ‘The Wall’ whilst training at Blackpool & The Fylde College, Gaz returned to the theatre stage in 2009 as Heathcliffe in a production of Disco Inferno. He followed this up by playing Jamie in The Last Five Years, before taking on roles in I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change and playing Daryl Van Horne in The Witches Of Eastwick.
During this time, Gaz also performed in a series of concerts, including Therapy at Battersea Barge, West End Unplugged at Leicester Square Theatre, Gaz Jenkins & Friends and Love/Life at Blackpool Grand Theatre, and Time & Music at Thornton Little Theatre. In 2013, Gaz took on the role of Jake Blues in Blues Brothers: Live for a month-long residency at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for Hartshorn-Hook Productions.
In 2016, Gaz joined the cast of Trevor Chance’s Legends in Blackpool. He was the compere of the UK’s longest-running tribute show for 3 years, working alongside some of the best tribute acts in the country. It was during this time he was inspired to launch his own tribute show, which lead to the birth of Billy Joel Tribute UK and Uptown Girl – The Billy Joel Collection.
Outside of performing, Gaz spends time with his family in their home in the North West of England, and nurturing the next generation of performers. He is an avid follower of Liverpool Football Club and loves attending gigs and shows…and listening to Billy Joel, of course.
